If you’ve ever dreamed of walking through a postcard-perfect English village, Bibury might just be it.
Tucked away in the rolling hills of the Cotswolds, Bibury is the kind of place that makes you slow down, breathe a little deeper, and take in the beauty of simple things—stone cottages, wildflowers, and the sound of a river gently winding through the countryside.
Why Bibury?
William Morris once called Bibury “the most beautiful village in England,” and honestly, it’s hard to disagree. The village has a timeless charm. It’s not flashy or overly polished—just genuinely lovely in that quietly magical way only English countryside can be.
Whether you’re up for a gentle stroll or simply looking for a day out that soothes the soul, this easy walk through Bibury is just the ticket.
The Walk Itself
-
Distance: Around 2.5 miles
-
Time: 1.5 to 2 hours (depending on how often you stop to take photos—which you will!)
-
Difficulty: Easy and suitable for most walkers
Start your walk right in the village, where you’ll find Arlington Row—a line of quaint 17th-century cottages that you’ve probably seen on postcards, calendars, or even Instagram. They're beautiful in every season, but there's something especially magical about them on a crisp spring morning or a misty autumn afternoon.
From there, follow the gentle path along the River Coln. The water is so clear you can see the trout swimming beneath the surface. If you’re curious, pop into the Bibury Trout Farm—it’s one of the oldest in the country and surprisingly relaxing to wander through.
The walk loops out into the surrounding meadows and quiet lanes, where you’ll be treated to views of the hills, dry stone walls, and fields full of grazing sheep. There’s something incredibly peaceful about this part of the walk—just you, nature, and maybe the occasional local out for a dog walk.
